At its opening in 2002, Revive Spa at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort unveiled two stories and 28,000 square feet of SpaGirl-loving services and amenities. A path of water-colored tumbled glass directs lucky visitors into the central spa rotunda where a water garden ripples below a brilliant skylight two floors above. With balancing hints of Asian and desert influences, the decor features elegant wrought iron banisters and touches of copper and stone that illuminate the resort’s guiding elements of fire, water, earth and sky.

Once you check in, you’ll be escorted to the private women’s or men’s dressing area where a plush sky blue Revive robe awaits you along with spacious private dressing rooms, elegant vanities, an ultra sauna, steam room and a separate whirlpool area. Crowned with a soft cobalt blue tiled waterfall as its backdrop, the whirlpool room leads to an outdoor patio with Centurion showers and lounge chairs. Just beyond, you’ll find the Olympic-sized sanctuary pool where a meticulously manicured lawn and two rows of towering palms create a spectacular view against the silhouette of the McDowell Mountains. For some true solitude, plop yourself poolside in one of the seven private cabanas where you can access the Internet or loll in the breeze of the oversized ceiling fans.

The fully equipped fitness center offers expansive, open-air windows that overlook the bistro herb garden. Rather skip the workout? Head up the stairs to the treatment waiting area and pass the time on a private outdoor balcony, the rooftop garden or by the fire in the cozy indoor relaxation room.

Your service will take place in one of the 41 treatment rooms, most of which (except for the facial rooms) are lit with natural sunlight and where cool moss greens and soft yellows create a mellow, calming mood. Treatments run the gamut from massage and facials to unique body treatments like the Mesquite Clay Wrap, the Turquoise Cocoon and the Aroma Facial with Wildflower Foot Bath.

Follow your treatment with a healthy (or not so healthy) bite at the Spa Bistro, where you’ll find breakfast selections such as Spinach & Mushroom Omelets, tempting lunch entrées like Miso & Sake Roasted Black Cod and Black Angus Burgers with Sweet Potato Fries, appetizers and desserts. Top your meal off with a fresh fruit smoothie, beer, wine or Bloody Mary (gotta love that!).

If you’re looking for a touch of glamour, make a date at Salon Revive, which offers full hair, makeup and nail services. And if you don’t have a spa robe of your own yet, make a final stop at the spa boutique where you can pick up a signature Revive robe and a few goodies to remember what promises to be a memorable trip.
