Having completely succumbed to the fact that stubborn skin like mine must be whipped and beaten before it can look halfway decent, I was pleasantly surprised to find that serious skincare doesn't have to hurt. Or at least not at Ageless Aesthetics. On arrival, I was greeted promptly by owner Kelly Mater. It didn't take me long into our discussion to find out that she dove into the skincare arena out of sheer frustration with her own skin woes. Pretty as a picture and with flawless skin, she had obviously wrangled her own skin into shape. A good sign. As I settled into one of her two tranquil treatment rooms, I prepared mentally for the poking and prodding likely to come by breathing in a few breaths from the soft candle flickering in the background. But while Kelly did have to kick back my acne flair-up with a slightly uncomfortable acid peel (honestly, it heated up just enough to let me know it was working), the rest of the facial was just as luxurious and relaxing as I've had at any resort spa. At one point, I had to fight back the urge to doze off. Once we were done and I reluctantly slipped out of the softly lit treatment room, Kelly gave me a sample cream to use for the following couple of days and a list of simple but firm home care instructions. Flushed and perky, my skin stayed glowing and happy for days. Now, had I followed her instructions, it still would be pretty and perky but you know me, a rebel with forever bad skin.
